This privacy notice explains what Foresight Shopping records when you use the site. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

Tracking

You do not need an account to use this site. We do track how you use it. That includes advertising and analytics technologies, cookies and similar identifiers, and cross-site tracking that can follow activity across websites and build or contribute to a profile used for measurement, advertising, or related purposes. Partners we work with may receive or set some of that data.

What we record

When you follow a link to a retailer we record that the click happened, which product it was for, the browser’s user agent, and the page you came from. We do not store your IP address. Instead it is combined with your user agent and the current date and turned into a one-way hash, which lets us count unique visits for a single day and nothing beyond it. The hash changes every day and cannot be reversed back to you.

We use these counts to tell retailers how many people viewed their listings, and to spot automated traffic. Click records are kept for up to 24 months.

Separately, tracking technologies described above may collect device and usage information (for example pages viewed, referring sites, approximate location inferred from IP, and identifiers stored in cookies or local storage) for analytics and advertising.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs for security and diagnostics, in line with their own retention policy.

When you leave the site

Once you reach a retailer’s website, that retailer’s own privacy policy applies. We have no control over what they collect.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection, including the right to object to processing for direct marketing. Some click records are deliberately hashed so they cannot be traced back to an individual; in those cases we may be unable to locate records relating to a specific person. For other tracking data held by us or our partners, contact us and we will help where we can.
